Season chicken breasts on with vegetable oil and lightly sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides and set aside.
Prepare your grill for high, direct heat. If you are using charcoal or wood, make sure there is a cool side to the grill where there are fewer coals.
Once grill is heated, lay chicken in the middle (the hottest side of the grill) in order to sear the skin. Grill for 2-3 minutes on each side.
Once you have a good seared grill mark on your chicken, move the chicken breasts to the outside middle corners on the grill (the cooler side of the grill) or if you are using a gas grill, lower the heat to medium low.
Once the skin is seared, generously brush each side of your chicken beasts with your favorite barbecue sauce. Cover the grill and cook undisturbed for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
*To see if chicken is cooked through, insert the tip of a knife into the middle of the thickest piece and see if the juices run clear. If not the chicken is not done.
Once chicken is cooked through, brush with more barbecue sauce and serve.
